WriteMonkey a free simple text editor which allows your creative juices to flow with minimal distraction. WriteMonkey is the best editor in this genre. This is what sets it apart from other distraction-free editors.
Here are some of the unique features of WriteMonkey:
- Progress Bar: This feature indicates how far along you are towards a document length goal. The default is 3000 characters but can be set to any number of characters or words.
- Jumps: Pressing alt-J will bring up a list of locations within the document to which you can quickly jump i.e. bookmarks, headlines, and paragraphs.
- Repository: Alt-R toggles between the edit display and a text repository, where you can keep snippets of text and other useful information.
WriteMonkey also comes with other bells and whistles like customizable fonts and colors, typing sounds, text statistics, spell checking, find and replace, and so on. You can also zoom the text by holding the Ctrl key and scrolling the mouse.
