How to download files using torrents

Torrents are the best way to download files over the Internet. Downloading files using torrents is different from normal downloads from websites. However, all you need is a torrent client and the torrent. In this blog post, I will explain how to download files using torrents. Most of you may already know how to download files using torrents. However, if you are new to this whole thing, I hope that this may be helpful in getting you started.

Step 1: Download and install a good torrent client. I recommend uTorrent because it is small and lightweight. BitTorrent and Azureus are other good clients.

Step 2: Download the torrent file from any of the various torrent websites. Some of the popular torrent websites are ThePirateBay and Torrentz.eu. You can also use Google to locate other torrent websites. However, be careful with what you download because may torrent sites contain malware which can infect your computer.

Step 3: Save the torrent file to your computer and open it in the client by double clicking on it. Some torrents can also be downloaded using magnet links. When you click on the magnet link, your torrent client will automatically open.

Step 4: Save the download file on your computer and start the download. I save my files on my desktop because it is easy to find. You can do the same. However, you can also save the downloaded file anywhere you want.

Step 5: Wait for the download to finish. Once the file is fully downloaded, scan the file with your antivirus. Open the file only after you know for sure that it is clean.

Step 6: Keep seeding the file for sometime, so that others can also download the file. However, this is optional. If you have a limited Internet connection, you can remove the torrent once the download is complete.

Always scan the file before opening it. Many downloads contain malware such as viruses and trojans. Also, update your antivirus with the latest virus signatures.

Be careful with what you download. It is illegal to download pirated content. If you download such content, you do so at your own risk.

Top Four Torrent Clients in Linux

Using torrents is a good way to download files from the Internet. The main advantage of using torrents to download large files is that it is completely decentralized. For this reason, it is also very fast. Using torrents, you can get extraordinary speeds provided there a good number of seeds. While it is true that the majority of files downloaded using BitTorrent technology are illegal in nature, BitTorrent was initially designed for distributing Linux distros without having to put strain on Linux download servers.

In this blog post, I will list and explain about the top four BitTorrent clients that are available in Linux. Most probably, you are Linux distribution will include a BitTorrent client by default. For example, if you are using Ubuntu Linux, you can find Transmission installed by default.

Transmission is a popular BitTorrent client that is available on many different platforms. It is fast, easy-to-use and at the same time light on system resources. Transmission strikes a balance between functionality and features. Transmission is available by default on Ubuntu Linux.

Deluge is a full-featured torrent client available for both Windows and Linux. It was designed to be lightweight and easy to use. One of the features of Deluge is that it was designed on a plug-in-based architecture. There are several plug-ins available for the software using which you can add advanced functionality. Deluge is not designed to work with a specific Linux desktop environment. It runs well with Gnome, KDE, XFCE and others.

This is a BitTorrent program for KDE. It is very simple to use but does its job well. You can use KTorrent if you use KDE as your main desktop environment. If you want to install KTorrent on Ubuntu, you also have to install other dependencies because Ubuntu comes installed with Gnome-based Unity by default.

I have read many positive is about Tixati. Many rate this software above all other BitTorrent clients. However, I find the interface somewhat strange and difficult to use. This could be because I’m used to uTorrent on Windows. More specifically, the user interface appears somewhat old-fashioned. However, when it comes to speed and other features, Tixati is undoubtedly top-notch.

If you ask me, there isn’t much difference between all of these torrent clients. Even though features may differ superficially, at the core of them all these clients are very similar. There isn’t much difference in functionality except that there are some differences in user interfaces. It is best to try all of these and stick to which are of them seems the best to you.
