Yappler is a cool tool that allows users to share and discover iPhone apps. With Yappler, recommending iPhone/iPod Touch apps to friends using tweeting, email or Facebook is so passe.
Yappler Sync allows use to create a custom list of all the apps of your choice and then share them with friends using your favorite social solution.
Yappler Sync also allows you to discover new apps by checking out the lists compiled by others.
In order to user Yappler Sync, you have to download and install it on your system. Yappler Sync is available for both Windows and Mac. Once installed, you can build your list and share it with friends.
Despite the cool concept, Yappler suffers from some glitches. Yappler builds the list from the iTunes library and not those that are installed on your iPhone. And it doesn’t list them alphabetically, which is not so cool.
You cannot discover new apps unless a friend send your his list. However, the Yappler website has a catalog all the apps in the App Store. It also comes with an advanced search option that allows you to search for apps based on criteria such as price and rating.
You can find other users by searching for app reviews and then looking for clickable usernames. Once you find another user’s list, you will only be displayed with icons. This is something that Yappler will fix in its next update.
Yappler Sync is all about app-sharing and so integrated well with social bookmarking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. It also automatically updates your list when you install new apps. And best of all, it is absolutely free!
