Samsung has introduced its S3553 Corby in India. The Corby is a cheap touchscreen handset which comes with a number of cool features such as 2.8-inch touchscreen, a 2 MP camera and Bluetooth with A2DP. Hopefully, the S3553 Corby will do good in the Indian market.
The S3653 Corby seems to be Samsung’s attempt to target those who want a touchscreen but do not want to spend more. Indeed, with an affordable price tag of Rs. 9,600, the handset is definitely one of the cheapest yet feature-laden touchscreen phones in India.
The phone will be available in several trendy colors, which will make it an attractive option to youngsters and college students. The phone also comes with support for social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
The S3653 Corby features Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface.
On the minus side, the phone doesn’t support 3G but instead supports GPRS and EDGE. It also comes with an FM radio with RDS support. The storage can be easily expanded for all multimedia content as the phone support MicroSD.
Once introduced in the market, the Corby will have to compete against Samsung’s other phones–Star and Star 3G. Both these phones cost almost the same as the Corby. Samsung’s other offerings do seem as a better option as of now and so, the Corby’s initial stages in the market may not see large numbers in sales.
