Netbook vs Laptop

Netbooks are very small and portable. You can carry it anywhere you want, without any problem. However, most netbooks are not powerful enough when compared to a laptop or desktop. They have smaller screens and lack some essential features like a CD-drive. So, a netbook cannot cater to all of your computing needs and you may have to buy a desktop or laptop.

Most people have difficulties in choosing between a netbook and a laptop. Netbooks are cheaper, smaller and lighter. But, then they offer comparatively limited functionality when compared to a laptop. How to decide what to buy?

What you need depends on your requirements and priorities.

When to choose a netbook?
# You want a portable, light mobile computer.
# You wan to use your time on the bud or subway, without taking space.
# You are low on budget.
When to choose a laptop?
# You want a powerful but portable computer.
# You have high budget.

Whether you need a netbook or not can be determined by carrying around your laptop (if you already have one) for a day or two. How convenient is it for you? If you don’t find it cumbersome, you can as well continue using it. However, if you feel that something smaller will be better, a netbook is what you need.

If some of your friends have a netbook, borrow it and give it a try. If you find it more easier to use, buy a netbook.

Where to buy a netbook?
One of the best places to buy a netbook is TigerDirect.com. NewEgg.com is another good company. You can also try your local laptop/computer stores. Some of the major netbook brands are Acer, MSI, Dell, Sony, etc.
