Nokia has announced that its flagship smartphone N97 will be available in India by Diwali or mid-October this year.
During the Nokia World event, the cell phone giant launched two new music devices and a new version of the N97, known as the N97 Mini.
D Shivakumar, Nokia India Managing Director said, “Though the music devices will be available in India by Q4 (2009-10), we plan to bring the N97 Mini by October in the Indian market.”
There have many claims that Nokia is not performing will in the high-end mobile phone/smart phone market. However, silencing all the critics, Shivkumar stated that the cell phone maker giant is not only doing well in the smartphone market, but also beyond initial predictions.
Overall, Nokia has sold more than two million N97s till date in various countries of the world. The N97 was announced in the last Nokia World event and was available for purchase in June this year.
Nokia has a market share of about 40% of the cell phone market worldwide. In India, Nokia is the market leader in both the low and high-end segment.
The N97 Mini will be priced at Rs. 31,000 approx. It will feature a 3.2 inch touch display, a QWERTY keyboard and a fully customizable homescreen.
