Ever since rumors about the Microsoft Courier tablet computer surfaced last week, a lot of buzz has been generated in the media. The latest rumor is that Microsoft Courier will run on Windows 7 and will be available in 2010. It seems there is a solid reason after all behind Microsoft’s emphasis on its Windows Touch technology.
If the “inside sources” who leaked the information are to be trusted, the Microsoft Courier could be out sooner that we are all expecting. Information about Courier was available on Gizmodo and ZDNet.com.
More information from the “inside sources” indicates that the Courier is an experimental project which means it is currently just a Microsoft Research project that is not yet ready for public consumption. However, it was revealed that Microsoft will get it ready for public release somewhere in mid-2010. It was also revealed that Microsoft will make the device on its own, rather than depend on third-party manufacturers.
Microsoft Courier will run on a customized version of Windows 7 with support for cloud-computing and storage. It will also feature a new user-interface that is specifically geared to the form factor.
So far, Microsoft has kept mum about this issue. And rumors are going rampant! Let us hope more reliable information becomes available soon…
