How to use Internet Explorer as an FTP Client

It is possible to use Internet Explorer to access FTP sites. Just type the FTP site’s address in the address bar and press Enter. If the FTP sites needs you to login, Internet Explorer will prompt you to enter your username and password.

If you want to log in with a different username than the one currently being used, you can do so if you have opened the FTP site in Windows Explorer. Choose File -> Log On As from the menu bar to open the Log On As dialog box. If the FTP site allows anonymous access, choose Log On Anonymously and then click Log On. If you can’t use anonymous access, enter username and password.

The FTP site will open up and the files and folders will look similar to files and folders on your computer. You can copy files from the FTP site just like files from on your local computer. You can also drag and drop items from the FTP folder to local folders and download them.
