Apple iPad has sold more than 1 million units within days of launching. Many industry experts believe that Apple’s iPhone will overtake Blackberry this year. Now, there are reports that Research in Motion, the company behind Blackberry, will soon launch its own tablet computer this year. If this becomes available, it will be a stiff competition to Apple’s iPad.

RIM has not revealed any information about the device. However, some rumors mentioned that the device will measure 8.9 inches. It will most probably be launched in the month of December.

Blackberry is already facing stiff competition from Google’s Android and iPhone. The smart phone market is highly saturated and so companies are looking for other avenues such as tablet computers.

Nothing much about the specifications of the device is known for now. However, it is believed that the device will feature Bluetooth and WiFi and can connect to other smart phone devices.

There are also reports that HP is making plans to enter the tablet computer market. Currently, it is believed to be evaluating all options available in the iPhone to make a better product.

Quanta Computers, a Taiwanese hardware manufacturer, is expected to provide the hardware required for the Blackberry tablet computer. Marvell Technology Group, a computer company based in California is expected to provide software solutions for the device.

As an alternative to the smart phone and the full-fledged laptop, tablet computers are becoming very popular. Blackberry’s tablet computer will make tablet computers even more popular.
