Research in Motion (RIM) is all set to launch its latest smartphone, the Storm 2. The smartphone will be available in November in association with Verizon. The Storm 2 is expected to offer the Apple iPhone some competition in the market.
The Storm 2 will feature Wi-Fi, touchscreen technology, and a virtual keyboard. It will have 18GB of internal storage and also a 3.2 mega pixel camera.
Most of the features that will be in the Storm 2 have already been seen in other smartphones in the niche. In other words, the Storm 2 doesn’t have anything is the ground-breaking. RIM, Nokia and others have been producing smartphones, however, the features found in these phones simply don’t match up with those found on the iPhone.
RIM may see a large number of sales from traditional BlackBerry users who may be interested in seeing what RIM has to offer in their latest product. That said, most people don’t like to switch to phones with newer unfamiliar interfaces. It needs to be seen to be said if RIM will see the sales figures it expects for its latest offering.
Currently, Apple is the de facto leader in the smartphone market. Additionally, it is also expanding its userbase by entering into deals with more and more carriers across various countries. This is putting more strain on other smartphone makers who are desperately trying to take a chunk of the smartphone maket.
