Grindhouse Mobile–a mobile content developer has announced that Apple approved iPhone apps featuring Aria Giovanni and Sunny Leone–both adult film stars. These are the first adult apps that have been approved by Apple. These apps are now available via the App store with Adult 17+ ratings. These apps provide photos, videos and access to blogs.
These apps are not the first of iPhone apps to feature adult content. This makes us wonder how Apple is handling its App Store approval. Grindhouse has stated that it is following the development guidelines very strictly. However, the first version of the Sunny Leone app was rejecting citing the explicit nature of its content. Grindhouse then made changes to the app and it got approved. However, we don’t know what kind of changes Grindhouse made to get it approved.
Apple states that apps rated 17+ “may also contain frequent and intense offensive language; frequent and intense cartoon, fantasy or realistic violence; and frequent and intense mature, horror, and suggestive themes; plus sexual content, nudity, alcohol, tobacco, and drugs which may not be suitable for children under the age of 17.”
Apps that have an embedded web browser or provide access to third-party content are automatically rated 17+ irrespective of the content.
